1.2 is the thing to use.

Owning this lens has been sweet. Problem free, beautiful bokeh. Colors are nice, but not as good as an L series.

Impressive less known lens.

Stumbled on this lens while researching fast primes. I was looking for a fast prime that is sharp wide open. And I can confidently say that this lens is sharp wide open. Bokeh is more a cat eye shape but I don't mind it. Manual focus is smooth and comfortable. I shoot weddings on Panasonic S1 and manual focus feels great and is easy. It is heavy so keep that in mind. But when i shoot wedding reception low light is not an issue anymore and I don't sacrifice quality. Only downside is if I go down to 2.8 I start seeing hexagonal shape in bokeh. Wish it was round but for the price, the quality you get is incredible.

Well

Sharp but too heavy…

Best lens I own

*adapted to my Canon M50*DISCLAIMER: Lens is mounted on a speedboster giving the softness and “cat eye” effect seen in the bokehLet me first start by saying i own a LOT of ultra fast prime lenses and this is by far my favorite for low-light portraiture. No, it’s not perfect: It is INSANELY large and heavy and it’s completely manual focus which really restricts its use to the studio or still subjects (don’t plan on getting any pet and kids shots with this). Yes, the Sigma Art is sharper, but something about the images the Sigma lenses produce seem too “clinical” to me if that makes sense- although that’s a personal preference. All in all, with a rather reasonable price-tag, I find this lens to produce the amazing image quality rich with character that I could only compare to the Zeiss O line.

Great Lens, Too Unwieldy

Quality is great, and the price is very good for a f1.2 50mm. However, the weight of this lens relegates it to the studio while I was hoping that this would be a great night street photography lens. For comparison, this weighs significantly more than Tamron's 24-70 f2.8 G2 lens.
