The 14mm F2.8 AF Full Frame Ultra-Wide for Canon EF-Mount is not only Samyang's first auto focus lens engineered for Canon, but it also is their first model to offer weather sealing. Built for the rigors of professional use and uncompromised optical performance, it easily meets or exceeds the performance characteristics of other professional/"luxury" ultra-wides.

Designed from the ground up specifically for Canon EOS Digital Full Frame DSLR's, this prime offers a bright F2.8 aperture, uncompromised optical performance, sealing against the elements and a rounded seven blade aperture for pleasing bokeh and star effects. Compared to others in its class, the Samyang 14mm F2.8 AF Prime for Canon EF Mount provides reduced size and weight, a wider angle of view of 116.6°, and its new AF design takes advantage of the minimized weight and movement of the focusing lens group for accurate, faster, and even quieter in operation than competing systems.

A total of fifteen elements in ten groups along with UMC anti-reflective coatings are utilized to maximize image quality. One Extra Low Dispersion, two Aspherical and four High Refractive Index lens elements combine for outstanding image clarity, contrast, color fidelity, and high resolution from the center to the corners of the image as can be seen on its MTF chart. Additional features include a durable all metal housing with a built in lens hood, a Manual / Auto Focus switch and full compatibility with APS-C Canon EF Mount Cameras, where it will provide an equivalent focal length of approximately 22.4mm.

At $300-$350 this is a great lens! A bit soft compared to sharp Sigma ART lenses.

At $300-$350 this is a great lens. Definitely not as sharp as Sigma ART lenses if you were spoiled by those. And a tad bit vignetting maybe but barely noticeable if at all. One advantage over the sharper Sigma lenses is that this thing is short and quite light weight and makes camera more comfortable in the hands shooting.

Very impressive!

I crossed my fingers, took a gamble, and bought this lens for a trip to Utah's great national parks. Turns out that was a great decision. I absolutely love this lens! It takes incredible pictures and is so much fun to use. The auto focus is remarkably accurate and so handy. Spend the extra dollar and buy the AF model! You'll thank me later. I brag about this lens and show it off to other photographers all the time. If you are shooting landscapes or night sky shots, you'll want to add this to your bag.

Returned (was purchased for a Canon camera)

Both EF and RF variants of this lens are not really "native" for Canon cameras (they are "reverse engineered" by Samyang) and therefore there is a problem of correcting the lense's huge distortion (not unusual for wide lenses) for both mirror (DSLR) and mirrorless (rX) Canon cameras. This lens is sharp in the center, but huge distortion in the corners makes it unusable without either in camera/DPP or in Photoshop/Lightroom correction. Neither is available for raws (I do not know about jpegs) for that 14mm lens in the Canon's case. So, I had to return it because manual correction of distorted pictures is a pain. I do not know if the same problem exists for Nikon/Sony and obviously the lens/image quality is not bad, but without distortion correction profiles this lens is unusable neither for landscape nor for group photos where wide angle is important.
